7 & 8 Month update!

Time to move the crib down again!

Weight & length:  On his 8 month birthday: about 26" long and 16.8 pounds

Sleeping:  Still up every 3 hours. While learning how to scoot and crawl, more often. He is now on the standard 2 nap a day schedule (except while working on a big developmental step)

Eating: Still nursing on demand and eating 3 meals a day. He is eating all kinds of pureed foods. Also puffs and toast with butter, banana, or egg yolk.

Diapers: Size 3

Clothing:  Still in 6 months

Hair: Dark brown, getting so thick now! Still has his adorable hairline and has horrible bedhead! so cute.

Eyes: dark, dark brown like mine. :)

Personality:  Still the happiest in the morning. What a personality he has! He has started getting a little shy and will hide his face in my chest when someone is taking to him. He is perfect when we take him places and lets people hold him easily. He does great during church, etc. He is such a joy.  He is our little observer.  He is so content on sitting and watching and taking in the world around him. He is more sensitive to the tone of our voice, especially daddy's.

Milestones: Oh goodness, he is rolling all over the  place, scooting and trying to crawl! He loves to sit but wants to stand holding on to things. He can pull himself up holding on to certain things and can walk holding our hands!

Firsts: Went to the park for the first time, LOVED IT! First wedding and first family beach trip.

5 AND 6 months old!

Surely this is not Ty's 5 AND 6 month update....late?!?! We have had so much fun the past two months. I say it every time now, but this is definitely the best stage!

Onto updates....

Weight & length:  at Ty's 6 month appointment...weight: 14.14 lbs. 8th %. Length: 25 1/4 in. 4th%. He is on the smaller end, yet his pedi did not seem worried. He has chosen his curve and has adheared to it. We just have a small baby and he is precious!

Sleeping:  Still not STTN yet. He is up at least 3 times. During his 6th month growth spurt and a few nights where his gums were bothering him, he woke up often. he is doing great!

Eating: Nursing on demand average every 3 hours.  During the 4th and 5th month, fed him solids once a day, 30 minutes after nursing around dinner time. I fed him average 2-3 TBS. He transitioned to eating more...much more at 6 months, but more on that later. :)

Diapers: Size 3

Clothing:   Still 3 months (onsies) and some 3-6 months.  6 months in Carter's brand.

Hair: Growing so fast! It seems as though it is lightening up. I think it is going to be brown like daddy rather that almost black like mine.

Eyes: Chocolate brown

Personality:  Oh my goodness. He is so much fun. Laughing, smiling, playing, interacting. People comment on how happy he is. We truly can take him anywhere. The only time he fusses or cries is if he is hungry...and he is impatient, or if he is very tired at night. I can not get enough of this little bundle of joy! He is definitely enjoying his sisters being home for the summer.

Milestones: Rolling both ways....across the floor! Time to baby proof! Sitting on his own without support. Oh fun!!

Firsts: He rode the four wheeler for the first time. Not a huge first for many, but for this family where even the girls have their own four wheelers, this is major! :) We took him to the beach for the first time.We have started taking him out and about a whole lot more. Went to his first dirt bike race.

Here are his 5-6 months pictures. I can't believe how fast he is growing!

4 Months Old

Weight & length:  13.11 pounds at home (will update with weight and length at his 4 month appointment next week. We were supposed to have it yesterday, but they had to reschedule) At his doctor's appointment, Ty was 13 pounds 9 oz in the 10th %. And 24 3/4 inches long...the 24th%. His head is still in the 86th %. :) She said everything is perfect and he is developing right on schedule. She was pleasantly surprised on how he loves to stand and how long he can bear his weight. :)

Sleeping:  Had a few nights where he was sleeping through the night (which means 5-6 hours) then hello 4 month growth spurt! He also requires right much sleep during the day to be content. I can tell when he needs a nap because he starts getting fussy. I am trying to get him on a nap schedule, but it is tough.

Eating: Nursing on demand average every 3 hours. Went against all my best laid plans and introduced solids about a week ago! He love, love, loves them! So far we have had bananas, pears, and sweet potatoes.  The video below is Ty eating sweet potatoes. (They are his favorite)

*Warning: If you do not want to hear mama's baby voice, please turn volume down now. :)

Here is Ty eating his first food: Bananas

Diapers: Size 2

Clothing: 3 months and some 3-6 months.  6 months in Carter's brand. To the new mamas out there, I have learned that Carter's brand sizing is different. 3 months is 0-3 in other brands and 6 months is 3-6 in other brands. :)

Hair: Dark brown. He is getting it back so fast! It looks like he has a little buzz cut. :)

Eyes: Chocolate brown

Personality:  Such a fun, happy baby! Smiles all. the. time! I am truly enjoying this stage. He is so observant and loves to be quiet and watch. He watches his sisters do everything and loves to babble. Everything is amusing to him. Oh, he is such a little joy.

Milestones: Oh the changes this month! Still talking and cooing. He has really started to change up is tone and range! He is making so many new sounds from squealing to low sounds. I think he enjoys hearing himself. :) He has officially found his feet and they are his favorite toy! I can hardly change his diaper for him grabbing his toes. They haven't made it to his mouth yet. ;) He no longer likes to lay back when you are holding him. He wants to sit up or stand up to see what is going on. Standing is his favorite. He can stand with little assistance, only to give him balance. I love when he stands, he opens his mouth wide in excitement! He started rolling from his back to his belly. He spent an entire afternoon rolling, but hasn't shown much interest since. He is doing tummy time much better and I can even coax a smile out of him. He has such good head control now. He can play in his Einstein jumping gym with no problems of wobbliness. :) I also think he has started teething. I would consider this a milestone. He drools buckets, I have to change his bib at least twice a day. He is biting everything, and let's just say, it hurts when he chomps down on one of my fingers! He is scooting, or should I say twisting? up a storm. He will start off one way on his play mat, I'll look again and he has completely scooted sideways! ha!

Firsts: He ate his first foods! Such a big milestone. I was going to wait, and I was pretty adamant upon waiting. But I decided to just try a banana one day because I was eating one, and he got so excited. So the solid food began. He also slept through the night for the first time. Granted, it only lasted a few days, but that was the best sleep I have had in months! He had his first Easter. <3 From the Easter bunny, he received his first Bible HERE, a Veggie Tales DVD (not like he will watch it anytime soon lol) and a mesh feeder. He rode the four wheeler for the first time. He fell asleep right when we ventured into the woods, but I think he loved it! I put him in his Mai Tei HERE when riding. :) He loves the outdoors now that it has warmed up and he got to put his toes in the grass for the first time. <3

I am loving this stage of his baby hood. He is over the colic and fussiness and just a joy of a baby! His grandparents and sisters spoil him rotten. He doesn't stand a chance!

Milestones: He is talking and cooing up a storm! He loves his kick and play gym playmat where he kicks the piano. He is starting to grab anything and everything and put it in his mouth.  He is drooling like crazy! I will roll over with ease with help and bears his weight on his legs for a few seconds. He can not stand tummy time but holds his head up and still great, so I'm not going to worry too much. ;)

Firsts: He sat in his high chair for the first time! Not to eat of course, but to be in the kitchen with mommy while she cooked supper. Also played in his Einstein jumping gym for the first time, he loves that! We took our first trip to Roanoke and to see our friends who just had a baby in February. He got to wear his Kawasaki onesie. For meaning click HERE.

2 months old

I can not believe Ty is already 2 months old! Time has surely flown by. We have learned so much together, climbed a few hills and fallen down a few times. But we are learning. <3 He began getting extremely fussy in the evenings. I cut way back on my dairy consumption and that seems to have helped.

Weight & length:  at his doctor's appointment on the 12th: 11.9 pounds (34%)  and 22 3/4 in long (37%) Head circumference is still in the 89% :)

Sleeping: He woke up every 2-3 hours to eat until I began swaddling him a week ago.  He will go 1 4-5 hour stretch before midnight, then 2-3 afterwards. Still wakes up to grunt and groan around 4-5. :)

Eating: I nurse on demand so the schedule is different every day. He is beginning to get on more of a schedule. He never goes less than 2 hours in the day and never more than 4.

Diapers: Size 1

Clothing: 0-3 and some 3 months.  Learned that Carter's 3M clothes are actually 0-3 size. Going and confusing me like that. Lol. Some 3 months are still too big.

Hair: Dark brown. I think he has lost all he is going to lose. I love his little receding hairline. :)

Eyes: Navy blue but turning brown

Personality:  All smiles in the morning! Over all he is a happy baby. He gets fussy in the evening but that is common in this stage. Loves his playmat. He loves to stare at shadows, curtain rods, door knobs, pretty much anything. He is truly taking in the world around him.

Milestones: He is cackling and cooing so much! He can find mama and daddy in a room when we talk. He is all smiles in the morning. Daddy hates to leave to go to work. :) He can hold his head up so well, I rarely have to assist him. He is trying to throw his leg over to roll over. He is starting to grasp at objects now rather than just bat at them all the time. He tries to talk to us! I love it!

Firsts: Lots of firsts this month! He took his first road trip to Danville! Missed it all because he slept the whole time! His first time in a restaurant (Lone Star) and his first dinner out (Los Nortenos). Mama left him for the first time with Nannie for about an hour. Hardest thing mama has done, but both managed to get through it scar free. :) He also got his first shots. :( I'm sure it was harder on mama than on him.

Firsts: Ty's umbilical cord fell of at exactly 10 days and he had his first "real" bath.  He loves bath time but dislikes getting lotioned up. He celebrated his first Christmas! A lot of his family came to visit him on Christmas day and he got to meet so many people that love him so very much. He got his first bicycle, the cutest Eeyore stuffed animal and an activity bar for his stroller. :) His first outing was to Nana and Papa Deal's house. <3
