Craft time! Owl Pumpkins

So, if you remember, I have a friend, Elisha, that I am on the pregnancy journey with. My other friend, Emily and I are throwing Elisha her baby shower next Saturday.

Here is a picture of Emily (l) and Elisha (r)

Elisha loves owls. And when I say love, I mean, totally unequivocally lurves owls! So Emily came across these adorable owl pumpkins on this site and we thought, How fabulous would it be to make these for her shower to decorate a table?!

Emily came over on Saturday and we had the most fun craft day. This is how they turned out!!

Ok, I must pat us on the back because they. are. adorb! We started by drawing the circle eyes in pencil. Then hot glued sunflower seeds in several rows around the circle. As you can see, they are all different! For the center, we placed glue and then poured poppy seeds almost like you would pour glitter and pressed them "in". :) The nose/beak is and acorn and we added whole peppercorns in the centers of the eyes to give umph.
For the ears, we glued sunflower seeds to toothpicks and inserted them. :) For the baby owls, we made the same ears in a smaller version, used peppercorns for eyes and a sunflower seed for the nose/beak.

It was great fun! And we think they turned out adorable.

Emily found the acorns near her home. She lives on an historic road in our town that is lined with the most picturesque trees. I love riding through there when the sun is peeking through. Ahhh. Anywho, She has tons of acorns on her road! She went for a walk one day and decided to collect a bucket full. It was so funny, she texted me and said the acorns were falling so fast from the trees they were hitting her in the head and bouncing in the street and attacking her shins. Oh the sight! I laughed out loud!  Wives tales say that lots of acorns in the fall means lots of snow in the winter.....oh, I hope so!

Baby Ty Update!!

Well, Ty is a growing bouncing baby boy! And when I mean growing, I mean growing! He is now measuring 9 days ahead from our original due date!! (which was December 27th)

Ty is measuring at 28w1d (Officially in my third trimester!!) which puts our estimated due date at December 18th!! I am so excited. So I am officially in my third trimester and patiently, anxiously awaiting his arrival in December!

We had an appointment this morning for our 3d/4d ultrasound. Oh I could not sleep last night! I could not wait to get into that doctor's office this morning. I practically ran to the office door and pushed it open....only, it did not open! When they say open at 9, they mean open at 9! ha!

Well, the sonogram tech was able to get all of Ty's measurements and weight. He is currently 2 pounds 11 oz! :)

At one point she measured his thigh bone (I was excited because I could actually tell what she was doing). She said "hmmm". And then measured it again.  After doing this about 4 times, I started getting a little worried. Then she proceeded to tell me that Ty has a very long femur bone. She said "I knew he would have long legs because of his daddy". His daddy is 6'4". :) His leg measurements are long compared to the rest of his body.  I guess he is not going to take after is 5' mama. :)

Here is a picture of his little foot and bottom portion of his leg. It's a little blurry because I took it with my phone. :)

Ty was sleeping the. whole. time! He had his face planted into my uterine wall and his arm in front of his face the entire time. He never would turn and look at us. But we got the most precious profile shots. :)

Everyone has told me that he looks just like his daddy and I completely agree. <3 I love everything about this little boy and can not wait until December!

A little info on his measurements: (these are two of the main measurements used to find his gestational age)
BPD(Hadlock) - head measurement - 7.23 cm
AC(Hadlock) - abdominal circumference - 24.23 cm

I am so blessed that everything is going great and he seems healthy as can be. God is so good!!

So my next official tummy tracker post will be next Tuesday at 29 weeks!!!

How to clean your makeup brushes

How often do you think you should clean your makeup brushes? Ok, now...how often DO you clean your makeup brushes?  This is something that a lot of people overlook and don't really think about. But clean makeup brushes are CRUCIAL to skin care!

For powder and dry brushes, you should clean them at the very LEAST 2 times a month, or every other week. Ideally you want to clean them every week.

For your wet brushes like concealer and foundation brushes, you should clean them at the very LEAST once a week if not daily.

If you have acne-prone or sensitive skin you should clean them more often. Why?

Makeup brushes can harbor:

Dead skin cells
Dirt and Dust (especially if you store yours on the counter....Guilty!)
Bacteria
Excess Oils
Product buildup

Also, the best makeup application for flawless skin comes with a clean, soft brush. Can't have that if they're dirty! Regular cleaning also extends the life of your brushes.

How I clean my brushes:

First off, my FAVORITE brush set is definitely the Mary Kay brush collection.

I have had and used the same brush set for going on 5 years now and they are as nice as the day I purchased them.  I also have added in a few extra brushes because I use at least 4 eye brushes and and several extra face brushes. In my daily collection, I also use the other individual Mary Kay brushes (concealer and mineral) I use 2 revlon fluffy dome shaped blending brushes (Walmart), a Smashbox eye smudger brush (Hautelook gift with purchase), and an Essence of Beauty contouring brush (CVS). With regular care and cleaning, your brushes should last for years.

I clean mine with mild baby shampoo.  I usually use the little travel sized bottles, but with a bebe on the way, I can now purchase the big bottle! Double duty! I fill my sink up with warm water and a little baby shampoo and place my brushes in it. Do not let them sit.  I then take the brush end and push it against the palm of my hand over the skin, rinsing in the water often. You will see all of the colorful goodness sliding away. :) After I am satisfied and think know they are clean, I rinse them with cool water and lay them on a small hand towel while I clean the rest.

After cleaning brushes, squeeze excess water out of the bristles with a towel. Never, ever, and I repeat Never place your brushes upright to dry. Water can seep down into your brush and ruin the glue and bristles of your brush. I also do not like drying mine flat for the same reason and for shaping reasons.

I love thebrushguard! I purchased mine at Walmart several years ago but I could not find a link. Check your local Walmart in the brush section to see if they have them.

The brush guard is awesome, you want to slide your brush guard onto the handle end so the bristles will be placed in the correct direction.

Once you have your guards on, you can place them in a jar like this. This allows any excess water to drip down but keeps your bristles clean.

Once dry you are ready to go! If I clean my brushes early evening, they are dry by the next morning and I return them to their little home. :)

My Birthday!

I am finally getting around to doing my birthday post!! I guess once you hit 30 your memory starts to go away....I did have to turn around an come back home this morning to check to make sure I closed the garage door. I did.  I'm guessing it's a mixture of old age (ha!) and pregnancy brain. :)
See example A.

Yes, that is my living room storage closet.  Yes, that is a a bag of tortilla chips.  Yes, I put them there.  Yes, it took 3-5 days for me to find them....

Anywho, back to Ma Birthday! It was an amazing, tiring day! Every year my neighborhood has a yard sale. Or wait, it's twice a year. See? I can't remember a thing! One is in the fall and we have one in the spring.  Our fall neighborhood yard sale fell on my birthday this year because my birthday fell on a Saturday. I did not participate this season.  Who wants to get up at 5:00 and work a tiring long yard sale? Not this birthday girl!
I waited until 6am to wake up and to drag my happy self out so as not to miss out on all the goodies being sold! And I got some goodies!  I got some awesome jewelry at my sister-in-law's (who lives across the street) and a few dresses. I got a GORGEOUS butter yellow Kristen Davis Designs dress that will be perfect for my brother's rehearsal dinner next summer.  Granted I fit into it. :)
Here is a picture of Kristin Davis in it:
Fashion Love <3 And I got it for $3!!! Talk about loving a yard sale!!!

I love our neighborhood yard sale! People park in your yard, you can't get out of your driveway, and our street looks like a war zone! ha! But much fun is always to be had. Kids are selling cookies, hotdogs, drinks, and cuteness by the truckload. I love my neighbors! Plus, DH's mom and 3 of his aunts came and it's always good to see them!

After that, I came home and organized a few MK things and started getting ready for the baby shower I had to attend.  It was Saturday, I had time, it was my birthday..so I played around in my makeup.
I did a little MK before and after shot.  Do NOT look at the before too long. :)

Ok, so then I went to the most precious little girl baby shower ever! Darnelle has absolutely beautiful children and I can not wait so see her baby Edyn!  She had the most awesome favors to hand out.  Since I am having Ty in the middle of cold and flu season, I do believe I will definitely be using the same idea!

Ok, by this point I am exhausted, and it's only 3:00! ha! Oh the pregnancy exhaustion! Or is it old age? What ever it is, I was tired.  So what did I do? I came home and cooked 4 lbs of spaghetti for my family, inlaws, and BIL's family. :)  Yummy! I also made my favorite, yummilicious, scrumptious caprese salad.

Seriously, I could eat this stuff for every meal! Family came over, we ate. And ate. And ate. Then we ate coconut pie and pound cake. Then we sat our happy full hinies on the sofa.  That is where my happy hiney stayed for the remainder of the evening.

I got lots of pretties for my birthday! Some jewelry, maternity clothes, and of course MONEY! What girl doesn't love money! I did go order myself some new spiffy duds from Motherhood. :) And....my awesome hubby bought me the most beautiful Vera Bradley diaper bag!

I love it so much! I love it the most because he picked out the color that he liked best and surprised me with it! I don't know how your hubby is, but mine is a "I wasn't sure what to get you, so here's money and you can get what you want". :) Oh how I love him. <3 However, this little purchase just made my birthday. <3

My 30th birthday was so fabulous. I have the best friends and family and each of them made my day so special.  30 is going to be great!!!

Monday: Chicken Pot Pie-trying a different recipe than I usually use. If I like it I will post it here. :)

Tuesday: Hubby's FAVORITE chicken wings, a veggie and rolls

Wednesday: Left overs or Chicken Caesar Salads

Thursday: Spaghetti with salad

Friday: Crock Pot chicken tacos: Three ingredients for the chicken: chicken, jar of salsa, and taco seasoning. Load up your tacos! Yeah, I got this off of Pinterest. It really does make fabulous chicken for tacos.

My spaghetti sauce

The spaghetti sauce I make is soooo easy. Yet, my husband absolutely loves it. Says it's the best ever. lol. He always wants me to make spaghetti when we have friends over. It's frugal, feeds plenty and yummy.  Spaghetti is my hubby's and my favorite meal. :) So here is how I make my spaghetti sauce. I do use a jar of store bought sauce in it. Hopefully, I can doctor it to use whole foods and healthier without losing the flavor my husband loves so dearly.

1 lb lean hamburger
1 lb ground sausage
1 jar Bertolli sauce any flavor (this is the ONLY kind that we like) I usually use the tomato and basil one
1 can diced tomatoes
1 onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
1-2 cloves of garlic, pressed
dash of dried oregano, basil, whatever you have on hand that sounds italian. :)
Salt & Pepper

Cook sausage and hamburger until done. I cook in the same skillet but I usually put the sausage in first because it takes a little longer to cook. Drain. Add onion, green pepper, and garlic. Let cook for a few minutes to soften green pepper and onion. Add the rest of the ingredients. Let simmer for 20 minutes to an hour. The longer it simmers the more "old world' it tastes. Is that what I'm trying to say? It just gets yummy.

See how easy?!?! I never cook spaghetti without sausage.  If I don't have sausage, I don't cook spaghetti. It's as simple as that. We eat this a LOT in our house. It never gets old.  And since this makes more than enough for one meal. I freeze half and have another night!

25 weeks

How Far Along: 25 weeks!
Size of baby: He is the size of a head of cauliflower.  Average: about 13.6-14.8 inches and 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 pounds!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Last official weigh-in at the doctor's office I was up 5 pounds! For some reason, my scale at home has not moved. :/ I have come to the conclusion that my scale at home does not work. Therefore I have no clue how much I have gained since my last appointment. I am guessing I have gained between 2-3 pounds. I will update exact amount after my next appointment on the 19th. :)
Maternity Clothes: Mix and match. All maternity pants except my yoga pants....which I could live in all. the. time. I am carrying him so low that my pants don't fit!
Gender:  Bouncing Baby Boy!! Mama's prince, Ty.
Stretch marks: No new ones!
Movement: Movement is great. I am not sure when I am supposed to start "tracking" his kicks.  I must google this. :) During the day at work, I do not feel him at all. In the mornings, he is wired and the evenings just active. :)
Sleep:  Starting to wake up more and more each night.  I require tons of sleep, always have. So I believe that God is starting me early getting used to losing sleep. <3
What I miss: Nothing
Cravings: No cravings this week.
Symptoms: No symptoms!
Best Moments this week: DH getting to see how wired Ty is in the morning. He was laughing at my belly bouncing all around. And my youngest got to see Ty kick as well. She thought it was hysterical!

My daily skin care routine

Skin care is so important! Annnnd I will be hitting the big 3-0 in 10 days!! What?!?! Did she just admit that? Yes.  I.  Did.  Hitting the 30 mark has not been the easiest for me.  I know, I know! She's still a baby, ha! She thinks 30 is old! Well, I may or may not have sang Strawberry Wine into my hairbrush growing up. Didn't we all?!

Coming up on 30 has really awakened my eyes to my health and my skin.  Not to mention, um, the fact that I am having a baby. That will put your health in perspective!

I am not an expert, but I do see the importance of a proper skin care routine! I never thought much about it until *gasp* a student at the elementary school I work at told me a few years ago that I was getting waves on my forehead! What?! Yes, that was the turning point. I do NOT want waves on my forehead.

Enter, the skin care routine!  I started using the Mary Kay Timewise® a few years ago and have seen a huge difference in my overall appearance, tone, and texture!

I use the combo/oily, because my T-zone is oily, while my cheeks are not. It is the perfect balance of cleansing and moisturizing that my skin needs!

"The timewise set provides incredible age-fighting results to help you maintain younger-looking skin. The set offers 11 age-defying benefits in one skin care regimen: cleanse, exfoliate, freshen, energize, hydrate, smooth, firm, soften, protect, rebuild and reduce fine lines and wrinkles."

I want all of those things. Don't you?!

1. 3 in 1 cleanser - It cleanses, exfoliates and refreshes all in one step.
2. age fighting moisturizer - formulated with antioxidants and a patented complex to help skin's renewal process
3.1. Day solution - packed with SPF 25, to prevent aging from sun. Hello! This is soooo important!
3.2. Night solution - packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and collagen enhancing peptides.

I use this set daily. If you would like more information or to purchase and try your own set, visit my Mary Kay website!

24 weeks

How Far Along: 24 weeks! Viability week! Viability means that if Ty were to decide to come today, the doctors would do everything medically in their power to save the life of a premature baby. I pray fervently that he decides to stay in mommy's tummy for at least 13 more weeks, but I am reassured to know that he is developed enough that even if something were to happen, my baby boy would prayerfully live. <3
Size of baby: He is the size of a cantaloupe.  Average: about a foot long and a little over a pound.  My uterus is now over my belly button and about the size of a soccer ball.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Official weigh in was Monday. I was up 5 lbs! As of today, about 6 pounds up! FINALLY! Yee haw! Party time! Although, I was not too, too worried about my weight, knowing how much baby, uterus, placenta, and extra blood, etc. weigh, I was waiting patiently for my scale to start moving. However, I do NOT want it to move too fast. :)
Maternity Clothes: Mix and match. Still maternity pants, but able to wear a lot of my pre-preg shirts. I am short, so most of my shirts are fairly long. I went through my fall clothes and was pleasantly surprised at how many tops I believe I will be able to wear at least until November. :)
Gender:  Bouncing Baby Boy!! Mama's prince, Ty.
Stretch marks: Ok, so here's the deal. I have been using this Nuby cream daily, sometimes twice a day for a while now.  Um, I found a stretch mark! Granted, you can only see it in low light, and it's white, and it's only a little over a half an inch. But, it's. still. there! So I went out and bought Bio Oil which supposedly is THE.BEST. I am loving how moisturizing it is. I think it will do the trick. I have gained about 3 inches in my belly the last 2 weeks, so I figured I would have one or more stretch marks make an appearance soon. :) Although, I am trying to keep them at bay, these stretch marks are a picture that God will paint to remind me of the wonderful miracle growing inside me. <3
Movement: Movement is fabulous! Since I started back to work, he sleeps more during the day. But he is active at night! <3  Friday of this week, I was able to start "seeing" him kick. Of course, I had to pop out the handy dandy smart phone and video it. I could not wipe the smile from my face watching my belly dance around. :)
Sleep:  Sleep is ok. I have had a few nights of uncomfortableness.
What I miss: Nothing
Cravings: No cravings this week. Although, last night I went out to eat with some friends, (the wifey is also pregnant at 16 weeks :) and we went to Carrabbas. Okay, so I tried this sauce for calamari called Ricardo I believe. It is made with jalapeno's etc. I can tell you right now. I give it 2 days tops and I'll start craving that sauce! It was that good. I must learn to make it!
Symptoms: Sciatica is gone! Well, for now. Evidently Ty decided to shift and give mama some comfort. I am truly thankful.
Best Moments this week: Just a great pregnancy week all the way around. Felt great, no symptoms, good energy. I am truly blessed. The best moment was being able to see his kicks for the first time and catching them on video. Will definitely be a memory I will treasure always.  Also, I just have to tell a funny story. At work this week, we had our practice fire drill. During fire drills, I always hold the doors to let the students and teachers file back into the building. On the way in, one little student stopped dead in his tracks, holding up the classes behind him.  With concern in his voice and eyebrows furrowed, he looked at my belly in confusion. "Wha-what happened to you?" His voice was so sweet. He absolutely had no idea that I did in fact NOT eat a watermelon, but I am going to have a baby. It was so funny, cute, and innocent I just had to laugh. And so did all the other teachers standing around. So. Sweet.

At my last appointment, my doctor and I discussed my sugar test appointment and my 3d/4d ultrasound appointment.  I know the sugar test is a dreaded test amongst many pregnant mamas, however, I am so excited! It puts me one step closer to holding my baby boy! And, of course, I am excited about my next ultrasound! Can not wait to see if he has my eyes and his daddy's chin! Oh, one more thing. The hospital called to let me know when my birthing classes are! 4 weeks in October! I can not wait! Ok, I will stop. ;)

This picture was taken at 23w5d. Ty and I went on a Japanese date night with another preggo friend of mine.

This picture was taken last night before our date night to Carrabbas. :) You can finally tell I'm pregnant from the front!

So excited to have my baby bump now! <3 Mommy loves you so much, Ty!

It's all in a name

We have decided on a name for our son. The crowning moment when you can start calling your baby by name rather than "he".

We have decided on Tyler Jay Deal for our bundle of joy. :)  We definitely wanted him to be named after his daddy. So he not only has his daddy's initials but he also has his daddy's middle name. <3

When deciding on a name, we absolutely fell in love with the name Ty. We were both good with just naming him Ty, but Ty really needed to be "short" for something. So we decided on Tyler. Now we did not look at meanings or origins. For the sake of the blog, I did just now look up Tyler and see that it means Tile layer. Hmmmm. Anywho.

We love our sons name. Ty Deal. It has a simple ring to it. We are simple people.

Mommy loves you, Ty. I can not wait to hold you in my arms. I thank God everyday for already allowing me to be your mama. <3

I just had to post this pic. Maybe Ty's nickname will be beanie baby. :)
